The IMAGO XG was used to
successfully track
charge1, charge3 and charge4 mortars. The tracker was set up using a
standard pan/tilt equipped with a 300mm and 800mm lens. The mortars
were acquired 2 to 4 km from the camera, and the chute deployment
occurred ~ 1.5 km from the camera. The FAS recorded images at 58 Hz
from both cameras simultaneously.
Note the 300mm lens
caputured the canister
and parachute in every frame. The 800mm the canister and parachute were
out of the image for 1 to 8 frames. However, the narrow field caught
the explosion, chute deployment, deceleration and drift to the ground.
